Anna team to wait on weather
Richard Fahey would like to see more rain before he commits his smart filly Anna Pavlova to the Blue Square Ormonde Stakes at Chester on Friday.
The improving four-year-old returned to the track with a scintillating win at Navan last month.
But with all her best form coming with a bit of cut in the ground, Fahey is reluctant to let her take on 2005 St Leger winner Scorpion unless there is more rain in Cheshire.
âIâd like a bit more before I committed her. If they got the same again as they got on Wednesday that would be great,â said Fahey. âBut realistically speaking it is still up in the air.
âSheâs also in a race at Naas (Blue Wind Stakes) next week so it is not essential that she runs at Chester.
âPaul (Hanagan) thought it would have been safe enough for her yesterday but if they get a bit more that would be great.
âShe has won on quick ground before but that was only off about 80-odd and Iâve told myself that Iâm not going to run her on anything too quick this season.
âShe has an entry in the Coronation Cup at Epsom but that would be ground-dependent also. The thing with this filly is that when other people donât want to run, she does.
âItâs very ambitious but if it turned up very heavy down there it might be a different race.
âSheâs definitely improved a lot and sheâs strengthened up this year. We think she is very good but she has to prove it.â
