Stoute expects progress from Kaseema

Michael Stoute hopes Kaseema can build on a pleasing run in the Nell Gwyn when she lines up in the Stan James 1000 Guineas at Newmarket on Sunday.

The Hamdan Al Maktoum-owned filly finished a close-up fourth to Scarlet Runner in the informative Guineas trial over seven furlongs last month.

Kaseema was also a ready winner on her debut at Yarmouth before finishing a never-dangerous seventh to 1000 Guineas favourite Finsceal Beo in the Rockfel.

“I think she is entitled to run after the Nell Gwyn,” Stoute told BBC Radio Five Live.

“We felt she would come on for that race – she needs to. “But we are hopeful because she is a filly we’ve always thought a lot of.”

Kaseema, who will be ridden by Martin Dwyer, is a 20-1 chance with sponsors Stan James to earn Stoute a third success in the 1000 Guineas.
