Guineas prep for Art

Peter Chapple-Hyam sends out the unbeaten Dutch Art and Tariq to contest the Lane’s End Greenham Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

Dutch Art, the general second favourite for the Stan James 2000 Guineas, will be making his eagerly-anticipated seasonal bow after winning three Group races as a two-year-old.

Jimmy Fortune takes the plum mount aboard the Prix Morny and Middle Park Stakes winner.

Tariq will be having his first outing since finishing third in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and will be partnered by Frankie Dettori.

Chapple-Hyam said: “Dutch Art is in very good form and I can’t wait to run him.

“We have no worries about the likely fast ground and the seven furlongs should be no trouble for him.

“Jimmy came and sat on him for the first time on Wednesday and seemed to get on well with him. Tariq has been working exceptionally well this spring and I’m looking forward to running him.

“Obviously this is his first run since the Coventry and he is entitled to be a little ring-rusty. He won’t mind the ground either,” the Newmarket handler told www.peterchapplehyam.com.

Dutch Art and Tariq are among seven runners in the Group Three contest, including Superlative Stakes winner Halicarnassus.

The highly-rated Captain Marvelous, trained by Barry Hills, also takes his chance, while Coventry Stakes runner-up Major Cadeaux holds an entry for the Richard Hannon team.

John Gosden’s unbeaten colt Yazamaan and the Clive Brittain-trained Mastership complete the Greenham line-up.
