Kakori can get off the mark in the Pride Of Place Maiden at Laytown

Racing heads to the seaside on Thursday for the annual meeting at Laytown where Kakori can get off the mark at the 10th time of asking in the Pride Of Place Maiden.
While no star, the Joseph O’Brien-trained Le Havre filly has improved from start to start this season, most recently going down by a head at Roscommon over 10 and a half furlongs having finished third at Limerick over a mile and a half on the start before that.
And, providing she handles this significant drop in trip to seven furlongs, Kakori ought to be tough to beat on the beach.
Elsewhere on the six-race card, Lohengrin gets the vote in the O'NEILLS.COM Handicap.
At first glance, a strike rate of one win in 35 career starts wouldn’t inspire much confidence but the fact that sole success came in a course and distance maiden on this card last year is an obvious positive.
As is the booking of Colin Keane to partner a horse who produced his best run since this meeting last year when third at Navan a fortnight ago.
Ado McGuinness has a strong hand in the opening contest, the Tote Guarantee, Never Beaten By SP Claiming Race, with recent Navan scorer Land Of The Giants preferred to stablemate She's Ideal.
McGuinness can also provide the answer in the Gilna's Of Laytown Handicap where Moyassr, who shaped well over a mile when second on his stable debut at Navan last week, can make light of the two-furlong drop in trip to go one place better this time.
