Tariq back on the comeback trail

Tariq, not seen since finishing third behind Hellvelyn in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot, is set to make his three-year-old debut in the European Free Handicap at Newmarket’s Craven meeting.

An impressive winner of a Newmarket maiden on debut, the son of Kyllachy may have the French 2000 Guineas as a target if all goes to plan, according to trainer Peter Chapple-Hyam.

“I’m delighted with Tariq at the moment. He is really thriving,” said Chapple-Hyam.

“He worked very well last Saturday on Racecourse Side and our plan this year has always been to start him back in the Free Handicap.

“If he were to win that, then the French 2000 Guineas would be his next target,” the Newmarket handler told www.peterchapplehyam.com.
