Carlisle abandoned

Carlisle’s meeting on Thursday has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

An 8am inspection confirmed early fears for clerk of the course, Johnny Fenwicke-Clennell – despite no more rain falling overnight.

The course is still unraceable and officials have decided to make an early decision.

“We had to abandon at 8am. We had no more rain overnight but we are still waterlogged,” said Fenwicke-Clennell.

“There is more rain forecast today and after two inches fell since the last meeting, the course hasn’t had chance to recover.”
