Teofilo and Emperor to clash in Dewhurst
Teofilo and Holy Roman Emperor, first and second in the National Stakes, are set for a fascinating rematch in Saturday’s Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.
Jim Bolger’s Teofilo is unbeaten in four starts to date and handed out a length-and-a-quarter defeat to Aidan O’Brien’s runner at the Curragh last time.
He has not run since that success but Holy Roman Emperor bounced back to winning form in the Prix Jean-Luc Lagardere at Longchamp just under two weeks ago.
Vital Equine, Eoghan O’Neill’s Champagne Stakes winner, was third in France and will try his luck again.
The Mick Channon-trained Halicarnassus is set for his first run since recording an impressive success in the Superlative Stakes in July, while He’s A Decoy (second) and Rllying Cry (fourth) are set to reoppose.
Peter Chapple-Hyam’s unbeaten Richmond Stakes winner Hamoody will step up to seven furlongs for the first time while Stan Moore will be double-handed with Dubai Builder and Traffic Guard.
Adagio, Haatef, Mount Parnassus, Naigani, Prime Defender and Vintage Stakes hero Strategic Prince complete the 15-strong line-up.
