Plate hero to return next year
George Moore’s Northumberland Plate hero Toldo is well on the road to recovery and will be seen in action again next season.
Moore had been aiming the four-year-old at the totesport Ebor after Nelson De Souza galvanised him to a thrilling neck victory in the ‘Pitmen’s Derby’ back in July.
Plans were scrapped, however, when it was discovered the gelding was suffering from heat in one of his legs, and although the problem has kept him out of action since that famous success, Toldo is expected to be back as good as ever in 2007.
“He’s grand and he’ll be back for more next year,” reported Moore.
“His injury seems to be sorting – it’s grand and I have no worries there.
“Hopefully he’ll have a similar sort of campaign next year, but obviously we’ll run him when the ground has a bit of ease.
“He seems suited by ease now so that will be the plan for him.”
