Presse on target for Cheveley Park
Barry Hills’ La Presse will bid to bounce back from a below-par effort at Ayr on her last start in the Sky Bet Cheveley Park Stakes at Newmarket on Friday.
The Gone West filly had previously beaten Aidan O’Brien’s highly-regarded Brave Tin Soldier in the Convivial Maiden Stakes at York and was expected to follow up in the Group Three Firth of Clyde Stakes.
Although she was an expensive failure that day behind Princess Iris, connections believe she is capable of a good deal better, despite the possibility of their charge facing next season’s 1000 Guineas favourite Sander Camillo.
“I don’t know if she’ll beat Jeremy Noseda’s filly (Sander Camillo), but she has a healthy chance,” said Bruce Raymond, racing manager to owners Gainsborough Stud.
“The ground was too soft for her in Scotland but I’m sure she’ll represent a good each-way proposition at Newmarket.”
