Franklins Gardens is likely to bypass Thursday’s ABN Amro Goodwood Cup due to the quick ground.

Mark Tompkins’ six-year-old has not run since finishing last of 24 runners in the Melbourne Cup last November and his reappearance could now be on hold until next month.

“He won’t run on fast ground, he must have a bit of cut so I’m hoping for a thunderstorm,” Tompkins told At The Races.

“I’m desperate to get a run into him. I wanted to run him last week but I couldn’t.

“He will probably go up to York for the Ebor meeting, there’s a race for him there.

“We’ve got him back in great form.”
