Innox decision due tomorrow

Connections of Innox will wait until tomorrow morning before making a decision on where to run the early Aintree casualty next.

The 10-year-old, trained in France by Francois Doumen, fell at the first fence in the John Smith’s Grand National, having been seventh in the race 12 months earlier.

The Racing Post Chase winner is likely to seek compensation in either the Powers Whiskey Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Monday or the Betfred Gold Cup at Sandown on April 29.

“We won’t decide until the morning whether he goes for the Irish National or wait for the Betfred,” revealed Frank Berry, racing manager to owner JP McManus.

The Sandown chase is being considered for another of McManus’ horses, Risk Accessor, who was a creditable fifth at Aintree.

“There’s every chance of him going for the Betfred at the moment,” he added.

As for Clan Royal, who did best of McManus’ four National runners by finishing third, Berry reported the Jonjo O’Neill-trained gelding to be recuperating following his exertions.

“Clan Royal is finished for the season,” Berry continued.

“He’s still a bit sore on his stifle but he’s coming round and he’s in good form.”
