Bowen hopes rain stays away for Millar

Peter Bowen is keeping his fingers crossed that further rain does not reach Newcastle ahead of Dunbrody Millar’s crack at the totesport Eider Chase on Saturday.

The eight-year-old is one of 32 entries in the four-mile-one-furlong race at the five-day stage and will have Tom Malone aboard as he bids to follow up his Agfa Diamond Chase success.

“Our plan is to go for the Eider and then set his sights on the Scottish National because he won’t make the cut for Aintree,” said Bowen.

“I just hope they don’t get too much rain at Newcastle because he’s a better horse on good ground.”

Martin Pipe has made three entries in the Gosforth Park test – Control Man, Iris Bleu and Korelo, with Paul Nicholls represented by Heros Collonges and Jonjo O’Neill having the option of running World Wide Web.
