Taunton fit for racing

This afternoon’s meeting at Taunton has been given the go-ahead after the Somerset venue passed an early-morning inspection.

Clerk of the course Michael Trickey was initially set to look at the track at 7am.

However, the recent adverse conditions improved markedly overnight, leaving Trickey in a position to inspect earlier than inspected.

“The forecast was spot on and it was seven degrees by the time I arrived at the course this morning about 6.20am,” explained Trickey.

“That is obviously great news and hopefully we are set for a good day.”

The going at Taunton for the seven-race card, which begins at 12.50, is currently good, good to firm in places.
