Officials at Bangor will hold a precautionary inspection at 4.30pm to assess prospects for Wednesday’s meeting, which were described as “50-50”.

The going at the track is as soft, heavy in places but with heavy rain forecast, the stewards will check the course.

Ed Gretton, clerk of the course, said: “We’ve had about five inches of rain in the last three weeks.

“About 90 per cent of the track is fine, there are just a couple of areas where the water is running to and settling a bit.

“We are raceable at present but we’ve got a lot of heavy rain forecast today and so we are taking a look at 4.30.

“I’m not overly hopeful about it – it’s 50-50. If we don’t get huge amounts of rain we’ll be alright but if we do we won’t.”
