Cerium was trimmed to 8-1 with Coral for the Arkle Trophy after the high-class hurdler made a smooth transition to fences under Paddy Brennan at Warwick.

The Paul Nicholls-trained four-year-old remains a 6-1 chance with William Hill for the race after seeing off former stablemate Garde Champetre by a length in the Systimax Solutions Businesspartner Novices’ Chase.
