Etoile likely to swerve Fairyhouse

Accordion Etoile is unlikely to be given a prep run ahead of his engagement in the Independent Newspaper Novices’ Chase at Cheltenham on November 13, despite being entered at Fairyhouse on Saturday.

Last year’s Champion Hurdle fourth, who is as low 6-1 with Ladbrokes for the Arkle at next year’s Festival, made a pleasing debut over the larger obstacles when chasing home Watson Lake at Limerick a week ago.

“We have just made an entry for him in Fairyhouse and while I haven’t totally made up my mind, it is more than likely he won’t run again (before Cheltenham),” said trainer Paul Nolan.

“I’m not going to rule out the possibility as it will depend on how he is at home, but it is about 60-40 he will go to Cheltenham without another run.”
