Lord Sam is set to return after over nine months off the track in the Anglo Irish Bank Munster National at Limerick on Sunday.

Trainer Victor Dartnall reported the nine-year-old to be on target for the handicap chase – for which he is top weight – as long as the ground is suitable.

“He’s a likely runner as long as the ground is safe,” said the Barnstaple-based handler.

“I’m happy with his condition and he’s ready to run.”

Lord Sam has not raced since being pulled up in the King George VI Chase at Kempton on Boxing Day and is among 20 horses left in the Munster National after the forfeit stage.

Heading the home contingent is the Willie Mullins-trained Euro Leader, a ready winner of the Kerry National at Listowel

Other notable contenders are the Pat Fahy-trained Mariah Rollins, Banasan, Bizet, Pearly Jack and Howaya Pet.
