Light set to shine at Newmarket

Prince Of Light, trained by Mark Johnston, will bid to enhance his growing reputation by stepping up to Group One company at Newmarket on September 30.

The two-year-old has earned a tilt at the Shadwell Stud Middle Park Stakes after completing a hat-trick in the Group Three Sirenia Stakes earlier this month.

“He had just a tiny little nick on his right hind leg after his last race but is absolutely fine now,” explained Deirdre Johnston.

“He has shown lots of speed so we are sticking to six furlongs for the time being.

“He will go for the Middle Park.”

After finishing a close third on his debut at Doncaster in July, the Fantastic Light colt won his maiden at Goodwood followed by a comfortable victory in a nursery at York’s Ebor meeting before successfully stepping up into Pattern company last time out.
