In-form jockey Jamie Spencer is set to link up with former boss Aidan O’Brien aboard Avalon in the Ladbrokes St Leger at Doncaster.
Spencer left the Ballydoyle operation after just one season in Ireland but is poised to renew acquaintances with O’Brien on Saturday.
“We were waiting to see if Jamie was needed at Leopardstown on Saturday, but I can now confirm he will be riding at Doncaster,” Spencer’s agent Chris McGrath told the Daily Mail.
Avalon, who finished an eyecatching third behind Hard Top and The Geezer in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York last month, is one of two O’Brien entries for the final Classic of the season as the Irish handler also saddles market leader Scorpion.
Spencer has enjoyed a fruitful time since ending his association with O’Brien and is an odds-on chance to be crowned champion jockey this term.
The 24-year-old, who steered Brian Boru to St Leger glory in 2003, has amassed 120 winners this season, while closest rival Seb Sanders is on 114.
