Hanagan to see specialist
Paul Hanagan is keeping his “fingers crossed” he will not need an operation on his broken right collarbone.
The 24-year-old jockey will see a specialist in York tomorrow to discover if he needs surgery on his shoulder after he sustained the injury in a fall at Pontefract last Tuesday.
Hanagan, who has ridden 59 winners this year, said: “I’m getting better but I’m still in a lot of pain and have a lot of trouble sleeping.
“The bruising on the shoulder is coming out and the specialist will see whether there’s been any further ligament damage.
“There’ll be nothing I can do if I do need an operation but I’m keeping my fingers crossed that it won’t be necessary.
“I’ve been knocked out before in a fall at York but this is the worst injury of my career so far.”
