Dettori targets Deauville assignment
Frankie Dettori is confident he will be back to full fitness in time to partner Dubawi in the Prix Jacques le Marois on August 14.
Dettori has been out of action since July 2 after he fractured his left collarbone on the David Barker-trained Celtic Mill at Sandown.
The championjockey confirmed he is making good progress in his rehabilitation, and hopes to be aboard the Irish 2000 Guineas winner for the one-mile contest at Deauville – in which Dubawi is set to go head-to-head with unbeaten Group One-winning filly Divine Proportions.
“I don’t want to miss the Prix Jacques le Marois,” Dettori told Paris-Turf. “The race between Divine Proportions and Dubawi will be the race of the summer and I will be ready for this challenge.
“I expect to be back in Newmarket a week before the Marois for a few practice rides before returning with a gentle comeback race two days before the actual day.”
