Dubawi on course for Divine showdown

Dubawi is on target for a mouth-watering clash with Divine Proportions in the Prix Jacques Le Marois at Deauville next month.

The Godolphin three-year-old is enjoying a deserved rest before the mile contest on August 14, where he is likely to meet the unbeaten French filly.

“The horse ran three races in almost one month, including winning in Ireland and finishing third in the English Derby, so we thought that this was the time to give him a break,” trainer Saeed Bin Suroor told At The Races.

“The horse is in good form – he is working very well and is fit and healthy. He is going to work this Saturday, but the plan is to run him in France and he will be ready for that race.”

After landing the Irish 2000 Guineas, Dubawi was upped to a mile and half at Epsom and will be dropping back to his winning distance in France.

“Dubawi has shown since last year that he is a star and he always gives everything in the morning and in his races,” added Bin Suroor.

“I think that a mile in France will be perfect and I am looking forward to running him.”
