Spencer backing Fracas

Jamie Spencer has not lost faith in Fracas despite the colt’s disappointing performance in the Budweiser Irish Derby.

Fracas was only seventh behind Hurricane Run after finishing fourth to Motivator in the Vodafone Derby.

“He disappointed yesterday. He handled sort of quick ground at Epsom, but Epsom can sometimes take more out of them than you think – Walk In The Park did the same,” the jockey told At The Races.

“He never performed and hopefully he’ll come back in the autumn. David Wachman is going to give him a long break now.

“I’m sure he’ll come back, and he should be a good horse to look forward to next year as well.”

The son of In The Wings had won his three previous races, culminating in the Group Two Derrinstown Stud Derby Trial at Leopardstown.
