Mubtaker booked for Sandown
Mubtaker is set to make his seasonal debut in the betfair.com Brigadier Gerard Stakes at Sandown next Tuesday evening.
Trainer Marcus Tregoning is eyeing the Group Three contest over a mile and a quarter for the eight-year-old rather than the Group One Vodafone Coronation Cup at Epsom three days later.
“He’s one of the flag-bearers for the yard among the older horses,” Tregoning told At The Races.
“He’ll either run in the Brigadier Gerard Stakes or the Coronation Cup but I think we are steering towards Sandown, hopefully.
“I think it’s a suitable race to go for.
“He’s a lovely horse but it’s very difficult keeping him 100 per cent right. We just have to feel our way and that’s why it’s very difficult to make certain plans with him.”
Mubtaker was last seen in public when finishing fourth to Sulamani in the Canadian International at Woodbine in October.
