Democratic Deficit is likely to have another shot at Classic glory in the Boylesports Irish 2000 Guineas at the Curragh later this month.

Jim Bolger’s colt finished a three-and-a-quarter-length sixth to Footstepsinthesand in the Newmarket equivalent last wek despite not getting a clear run over a furlong out.

Bolger is keen to have another crack at Group One level and has pencilled in the May 21 event for the Craven winner.

“He ran very well in Newmarket but things didn’t work out for him. I will be hoping for a bit more luck next time,” he said.

“He’s come back from the race fine and he’s a tough and hardy sort. All being well, he will now go to the Curragh.”
