Trainer McPeek to become bloodstock agent

Ken McPeek, the American trainer who took second in last year’s King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes with Hard Buck, will hand in his licence on July 1 to become a bloodstock agent.

McPeek’s career spanned 20 years and he recorded five Grade One winners, with his most notable success being Sarava’s victory in the 2002 Belmont Stakes.

“I greatly enjoy the challenge of finding a top-class racehorse,” he told www.thoroughbredinternet.com. I plan on attending all of the major auctions with a particular focus on the yearling and South American markets.

“Most owners have great faith in the abilities of their trainers and, with my change in focus, I will have more time to assist those owners in selecting the horses that make up their stables.”
