Dettori squad odds-on for Challenge

Teams skippered by Frankie Dettori and Johnny Murtagh will go head-to-head in the inaugural running of the MD Betting Ireland v Britain Jockeys Challenge at the Curragh on Sunday.

Sixteen jockeys will go into battle in the fourth race on the card – the MD Betting Jockeys Challenge Handicap.

The sponsors have installed Dettori’s British-based team as 1-2 favourites to emerge victorious with the likes of Kevin Darley, Seb Sanders and Jamie Spencer featuring on the team sheet.

Murtagh’s Irish-based squad, rated 6-4 chances, includes Kieren Fallon, Michael Kinane and last year’s leading apprentice Cathy Gannon.

Also on the Curragh card, Airwave makes her debut for Aidan O’Brien in the EBF Athasi Stakes, while Roger Charlton’s Striking Ambition faces five rivals in the Key Of Luck Woodlands Stakes.
