Dunlop happy with Ouija Board

Trainer Ed Dunlop reports dual Oaks winner Ouija Board to have taken her Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe exertions in her stride ahead of a decision about her participation in the Breeders’ Cup.

Connections are still contemplating whether to send her to Lone Star Park in Texas on October 30 following her fine third to Bago in last Sunday’s Longchamp showpiece.

She would have to be supplemented for the Filly & Mare Turf at a cost of 90,000.

The fact that Ouija Board is pleasing with her general demeanour following a relatively light campaign may be a factor in her ultimate inclusion in the European challenge.

Dunlop said: “I’ve done nothing with her since she ran at Longchamp. She’s been turned out and seems very well and we’ll be making some decisions in the very near future.”

The Newmarket trainer has had one previous runner at the Breeders’ Cup, Lailani, who was over the top when finishing eighth in the Filly & Mare Turf.

Dunlop added: “It was a great experience for me to have my first runner at the Breeders’ Cup and I’m certainly a big fan of the meeting.”

Ouija Board was ridden by Kieren Fallon to win the Epsom and Curragh Classics, but Johnny Murtagh deputised in the Arc, when Fallon was required by Sir Michael Stoute for Derby winner North Light.

Ouija Board had a lot to do in the home straight but finished best of all in third behind Bago and Cherry Mix.

The run confirmed her liking for fast conditions, which she would almost certainly encounter in Texas. If she does run, it is expected Fallon will be reunited with her.
