Law firmly on course for final Classic

Rule of Law kept up his momentum for the betfair.com St Leger with a pleasing workout in Newmarket this morning.

The colt, 11-4 favourite for the final Classic with William Hill on the back of his victory in the Great Voltigeur Stakes at York, is among a plethora of high-profile runners Godolphin will field in the autumn.

Crisford confirmed that Queen Anne Stakes and Coral-Eclipse hero Refuse To Bend will tackle the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot next in preference to the Prix Moulin at Longchamp on Sunday.

Juddmonte International winner Sulamani, meanwhile, remains a probable for the Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.

“The Arc is the plan for Sulamani, but a lot hinges on what happens in the Irish Champion Stakes,” Crisford said.

He added that plans are on hold for Gold Cup victor Papineau, who is also quoted in the Arc betting but has not run since his triumph at the Royal meeting.
