Damson maintained her unbeaten record with a brave victory in the Independent Waterford Wedgwood Phoenix Stakes at the Curragh today.

Taken to the lead a furlong out by Kieren Fallon, the David Wachman-trained filly gamely held two Aidan O’Brien-trained colts, Oratorio and Russian Blue, to lift the Group One prize. She was sent off the 8-11 favourite.

O’Brien’s other intended runner, Carnegie Hall, was a late absentee.
