Fallon mount wins Nassau Stakes

Favourable Terms, trained by Michael Stoute and ridden by Kieren Fallon, has won the Group One Vodafone Nassau Stakes at Goodwood today.

Favourable Terms just held on in a desperately tight finish to give Sir Michael Stoute and Kieren Fallon a third consecutive win in the Group One Vodafone Nassau Stakes.

The well-backed favourite Chorist looked to have taken charge when going on three furlongs out under Darryll Holland.

But she didn’t pick up in the manner expected and Favourable Terms always looked a big danger going well in behind her.

The pair settled down for a protracted duel but just as Favourable Terms got on top, Silence Is Golden came flying down the outside.

The Stoute filly prevailed on the nod by a short head, with Chorist a neck away in third.

Favourable Terms and Chorist came pretty close on the run-in and a stewards’ inquiry was called, but the placings remained unaltered.

Stoute has now won the race seven times in total, most recently with Islington in 2002 and Russian Rhythm last year.

“We’ve won it with some very good ones, but she’s a very admirable filly,” he said.

“We’ve had a lot of problems with her back and sometimes that compromises her. We have the physios working on her all the time.”
