Attraction looks towards Coronation Stakes
Mark Johnston's Attraction will return to her Middleham base this afternoon with a crack at the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot now on the cards for the Classic-winning star.
The daughter of Efisio became the first filly to score in both the English and Irish 1000 Guineas yesterday afternoon after proving herself an accomplished sprinter last term.
Following her one length win from Alexander Goldrun at the Curragh, her connections are now looking at keeping their unbeaten charge at a mile.
Trainer Mark Johnstonâs wife Deirdre said today: âAt the moment we are thinking about the Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot for her next race.
âI think she is so versatile and has so much speed but weâll just have to take it one race at a time and see how we get on, although the trip issue is a great problem to have.â
Attraction followed up her half-length victory over Sundrop at Newmarket with another bold front-running display in the Irish race, and there could be more improvement to come.
âYou never know, she may come on again for yesterdayâs race. Kevin (Darley) said that she wasnât doing very much in front and he was glad that something came to her quarters to give her something to think about,â said Mrs Johnston.
âShe is just amazing and I donât think that we have got to the bottom of her yet.â
Mrs Johnston also revealed that Attraction had been given a restful night at the Co Kildare track before heading back to Yorkshire this morning.
âShe turned out fine first thing and she should be back here at about 4.30pm and touch wood there have been no problems,â she said.
âAfter the last Guineas we just gave her three days walking and trotting before we started her back cantering,â she continued.
âBut sheâll tell us when she is ready and once she gets a bit fresh walking and trotting weâll start her back in full work.â
