Fallon leads way with four-timer

Big-name jockeys were the ones to follow on the Polytrack at Lingfield yesterday, with Kieren Fallon stealing the show courtesy of a brilliant four-timer.

Darryll Holland weighed in with a double, while Johnny Murtagh and Michael Hills bagged one each.

Fallon got off to the best possible start as Turibius (8-1) just held the challenge of favourite Polish Emperor in the opening Daily Offers @ betdirect.co.uk Handicap.

Holland then got the better of the champion jockey as the Nick Littmoden-trained Ascertain (10-11) powered home from Bahiano in the ÂŁ20,000 Bet Direct On 0800 32 93 93 Conditions Stakes.

Holland, who found only Fallon too good in the race for the jockeys’ crown last season, did not have to wait long to follow up as Raheel (100-30) took the following betdirect.co.uk New Site Coming Soon Handicap.

But it was Fallon’s turn next as Consonant (5-1) landed a four-timer of his own with success in the Littlewoods Bet Direct Handicap.

Hills got in on the act as his brother John’s Dancing Lyra (8-1) floored odds-on favourite Fiddlers Ford in the betdirect.co.uk Maiden Stakes.

Murtagh, who got his new career in Britain off to the best possible start at this track on Thursday, enjoyed an armchair ride as Forever Phoenix (3-1) proved a cut above her rivals in the New Site Coming Soon @ betdirect.co.uk Fillies’ Handicap.

Fallon finished the day with a double through Alafzar (13-8) in the Bet Direct On 0800 32 93 93 Handicap, and Crossways (11-4) in the Maxie Fantoni 95th Anniversary Handicap, both of whom were trained by David Evans.
