Officials hopeful Leopardstown will be okay for Sunday
Officials at Leopardstown are hopeful of Sunday’s meeting going ahead despite the recent cold snap.
The Irish track has so far escaped the snow that has affected parts of Ireland but racing manager Tom Burke reports some morning frost.
“We’ve been getting some frost in the morning and the forecast at the moment is for frost again tonight and tomorrow night,” he said.
“Temperatures in the day are forecast to get up to 4C to 6C so we would not envisage any problems at present but obviously we will be keeping an eye on the situation.”
Sunday is Leopardstown’s Cheltenham preview afternoon when a number of Irish trainers are due to take their Festival hopes for a spin.
Charlie Swan has pencilled in JCB Triumph Hurdle hope Hasanpour to work but Burke is unsure what the line up will look like as yet.
“All the trainers are keeping their cards pretty close to their chests at the minute and we probably won’t know who’s coming until Sunday morning,” he added.
“The Bowes were talking about bringing Solerina but they too probably won’t decide until the last moment.”
