Balmont lame after Dewhurst
Top two-year-old Balmont was found to be lame after his disappointing effort in the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket at the weekend.
The Gimcrack winner could only manage seventh place in the Group One contest behind 33-1 winner Milk It Mick and was never able to get in a serious blow.
āPat (Ederry) said Balmont didnāt stretch out in the race when he came off the bridle,ā trainer Jeremy Noseda told his website.
āThen on Sunday morning we found the horse was lame on his near-fore foot. He had popped an abscess in the heel.
āIn the long-term itās of no concern, but it could be a possible reason for his below-par performance.ā
Meanwhile another two-year-old star from Shalfleet, Peak To Creek, is an intended runner in Fridayās Horris Hill Stakes at Newbury.
