Alamshar set to stay in training
Alamshar, winner of the Irish Derby and the King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes, could stay in training next year.
The Aga Khan-owned three-year-old has all but been ruled out of a crack at the Breeders' Cup Turf after failing to handle the left-handed track at Leopardstown in the Ireland The Food Island Champion Stakes.
Although he finished a close fourth in the race trainer John Oxx believes the track combined with the 10-furlong trip may not have been ideal for the son of Key Of Luck.
Although the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe next month could still be an option for Alamshar, the owner also has French Derby winner Dalakhani in the race and he seems more likely to run.
Oxx told the Racing Post: "I believe that the plan is for Dalakhani to be His Highness's Arc runner and that Alamshar will not take him on.
"If Dalakhani were to suffer any kind of setback, the Arc would be the obvious race for Alamshar.
"The alternative is the Canadian International at Woodbine a fortnight later. Although it's left-handed, it's the biggest rack in North America."
Oxx added: "The plan at the moment is that he probably will race as a four-year-old. We will not be able to say for sure what is going to happen until we get to the end of the season."
