Belmont Park sees the Funny Cide

Kentucky Derby and Preakness winner Funny Cide has had his first work since his defeat in the Belmont Stakes.

The three-year-old, whose dream of Triple Crown glory was dashed when he could finish only third to Empire Maker last month, went half a mile on Belmont Park’s main track on Monday.

The son of Distorted Humor, trained by Barclay Tagg, is expected to make his return to action in the Haskell Invitational Handicap at Monmouth Park on August 3.

Among those who may face Funny Cide there is Blue Grass and Louisiana Derby winner Peace Rules.
