Connections of Sagitta 2000 Guineas third Norse Dancer are considering adding the colt to the Vodafone Derby field at Monday’s final supplementary stage.

Norse Dancer’s owner Jeff Smith said: “He is still in the French Derby but...it is hard not to be tempted to pay the £90,000 (€124,000) and let him go to Epsom.

“We will have a look at the French entries when they are released this week and then make our minds up.

“Epsom looks so open this year and I tell you – he really is a very good horse.

“Some of the work he has done has been pretty amazing. He works with Group horses and he has beaten them with his head in his chest, giving them a stone.”

He added: “Aidan O’Brien says he could run all of his at Epsom and that tells you everything.

“Godolphin haven’t got anything obvious for the race. It looks like it could just be one of those years where everybody is going to have a chance and that makes it more tempting for us.

“The jury is still out, but he is possibly the best horse I have ever owned.”

One colt who is set to be added to the line-up for the premier Classic is the Clive Brittain-trained Dutch Gold.

The Victor Chandler Chester Vase winner, who is owned by Marwan Al Maktoum, was not entered for the Derby but has progressed since his victory on the Roodee earlier this month.

“What has been decided is Dutch Gold will be supplemented,” confirmed the Newmarket trainer.

“Dutch Gold is a definite for Epsom and he goes to Yarmouth for a racecourse gallop during racing on Wednesday. Philip Robinson will ride him in the gallop.”
