Tony Dobbin will not ride for the next couple of days at least following the latest tragedy to hit his family.

One of his brothers who lives in the Watford area is in intensive care in hospital after being seriously injured in a car accident.

In March, Dobbin’s elder brother Barney died following a car crash in Marchon, Northern Ireland.

“Unfortunately one of his brothers has been involved in a serious car accident. He’s in intensive care, so Tony’s gone down there,” his agent Richard Hale said today.

“Tony rang me to tell me what had happened and that he wasn’t riding. I didn’t ask him any more questions. It’s a terrible thing to happen.

“He’s not riding tomorrow either. After that I’m not sure. It depends how he feels and how things go on.

“He’s gone down south praying that he gets some good news.”

The leading jump jockey, who was to have ridden at Newcastle today and Sedgefield tomorrow, escaped injury himself in a road accident with two other riders when travelling to Market Rasen in February.
