Bary bullish about Sulamani
Trainer Pascal Bary issued an upbeat bulletin on his French Derby winner Sulamani who reappears in the three-runner Prix Niel at Longchamp on Sunday.
Sulamani’s task in the Group Two heat has been considerably simplified after Aidan O’Brien withdrew his dual Derby winner High Chaparral and Bary is confident of his chances.
He said: "Sulamani is in great shape and is around 90 per cent fit. He is an easy horse to get ready, although the race should bring him on. He has also thrived physically.
"I had hoped to run Volantis as a pacemaker, but he hurt himself and there wasn’t time to supplement another one."
Sulamani last raced in the Prix du Jockey-Club in June when he demolished a high-class field in the classic.
Thierry Thulliez’s mount will wage a private battle against two Andre Fabre runners, Morozov and Gulf News, in the Niel.
