Fallon to face Jockey Club next month

Kieren Fallon has been asked to appear before the Jockey Club disciplinary committee on September 5 having been referred to Portman Square under the totting up procedure.

The scheduling of the hearing means that any suspension would rule Fallon out of the Rothmans Royals St Leger meeting at Doncaster the following week.

The news will come as a blow to the champion jockey and current title race leader who said on Monday he hoped he would not miss the final Classic of the season

However, Fallon’s claim that the Jockey Club could not hold the hearing this Thursday because York’s Ebor meeting was taking place has been refuted by the Club’s public relations manager John Maxse.

"Kieren was reported as saying we could not hold the meeting on Thursday but that is totally wrong," claimed Maxse.

"We offered the 22nd as a date but both Kieren and his agent Dave Pollington asked if there could be another date as they felt Kieren may not be able to get back to York from London and would miss some important rides.

"We have, therefore, arranged the hearing for the next meeting of the disciplinary committee which is September 5."

Fallon was referred to Portman Square after being found guilty of irresponsible riding of a minor nature on Golden Nun on Saturday.
