Redcar abandoned after heavy rain

Officials at Redcar have been forced to abandon the lunchtime card.

And a precautionary inspection will be held at 4pm this afternoon to ascertain whether Sunday's fixture at the track can go ahead.

Heavy rain led clerk of the course John Gundill to inspect at 7.30am and, after walking the track with the stewards, he said: "We have abandoned. We have now had nearly 13 millimetres of rain and it is still raining."
