Golan wins Ascot thriller
Golan claimed a poignant victory in a thrilling King George VI and Queen Elizabeth Diamond Stakes at Ascot.
The Michael Stoute-trained colt was carrying the pale blue silks of Lord Weinstock who passed away on Tuesday.
And despite not having run for 244 days, the former 2000 Guineas winner just got the better of a dramatic battle with Nayef.
Kieren Fallon forced his head in front on the line for a head victory at odds of 11/2.
Nayef was returned a 7/1 chance while Zindabad was third at 11/2.
