Philip Robinson is expected to be fit to ride at Nottingham tomorrow following his horror fall in the Vodafone Derby on Saturday.

The jockey was unshipped from the ill-fated Coshocton yards from the line with the pair in the process of running a fine race in the premier Classic.

Tragically, the Michael Jarvis-trained colt had to be humanely destroyed as a result of his injuries and Robinson was taken to hospital as a precaution.

‘‘He was obviously bruised and stiff this morning,’’ said his agent Shippy Ellis. ‘‘But he got himself up at six o’clock, walked around and he’s been having massages and treatment.

‘‘Considering it all he’s in pretty good shape and unless there’s a sudden deterioration in his condition he intends to ride at Nottingham tomorrow.

Reflecting on the incident, Ellis added: ‘‘It was very sad, Philip liked the horse a great deal and he was a bonny horse. On the one hand we’re delighted Philip’s okay but we’re also very sad to lose the horse.’’
