Fallon takes Italian Oaks on German mount
Champion jockey Kieren Fallon landed the Italian Oaks on the German filly Guadalupe in Milan.
His victory on the 6.08-1 chance came at the main expense of Barry Hills’ Bright And Clear.
The favourite Bright And Clear, having held a prominent position throughout under Richard Hughes, came through on the inside to take up the running early in the straight.
However, she was unable to contain the flourish of the Peter Schiergen runner and went down by a length.
Midnight Angel, also German-trained, was third. John Gosden’s Ticket To Dance was far from disgraced in seventh.
Dermot Weld’s pace-setting Nashwan Rose faded to finish 12th of the 18 runners.
Despite the defeat of Bright And Clear, Ladbrokes have cut her odds for the Vodafone Oaks to 20-1 from 25-1.
Paul Cole’s Cornelius, ridden by Jimmy Fortune, landed the odds in the Group Two Premio Emilio Turati over a mile.
