Winner of the Chesham Stakes in Royal Ascot last time, 2/5 shot Churchill again showed signs of inexperience on his way to a neck victory over Alexios Komnenos in the Japan Racing Association Tyros Stakes, a race Ballydoyle has won with Gleneagles and Deauville in the last two years.

Both O’Brien and Moore expressed their satisfaction with the performance, Churchill’s trainer commenting: “He’s very babyish and green and immature when he gets there. But he travelled great and got there easily. Ryan said he didn’t see the other horse until late, but felt our horse won well. He might go for the Futurity (August 21st at the Curragh) now.”
