Riches tops Clonmel contenders
Winner of the Galway Plate, Grade 1 JNwine.com Champion Chase at Down Royal and Grade 1 Lexus Chase at Leopardstown in 2014, he finished a close third to Coneygree in the Cheltenham Gold Cup before filling the same position behind Don Cossack in the Punchestown Gold Cup in April.
Champion trainer Willie Mullins has three entries, all of which are Grade 1 winners: Felix Yonger, Twinlight and Gitane Du Berlais.
Gordon Elliott, whose string continues in top form, has also entered three Gigginstown House Stud-owned runners: Clarcam, Roi Du Mee and Bright New Dawn.
Other entrants to wear the familiar maroon and white silks are the Sandra Hughes-trained Irish Grand National winner Thunder And Roses and Mouse Morris’ First Lieutenant, while Tim Doyle’s stable-star Mallowney, and the Henry de Bromhead pair, Home Farm and Smashing, complete the list.
The Grade 3 EBF TA Morris Memorial Mares Chase has attracted eight entries, headed by Vroum Vroum Mag, unbeaten in five starts for Willie Mullins.
