Delegate can finally reward supporters
The Robin Des Champs gelding has proven expensive to follow in three bumper starts. But the five-year-old looks capable of a bumper success before going hurdling and has obvious prospects in today’s Your Clubs Fundraiser INH Flat Race.
Well-touted before his debut on this track back in November, he finished fourth to Identity Thief and failed to recoup losses at Down Royal on St Stephen’s Day, when beaten a length and a half by Rushvale, the pair finishing 18 lengths clear of the rest.
Last time out he ran another solid race but couldn’t cope with the potentially smart Willie Mullins-trained An Dearg Mor at the Easter meeting.
With Nina Carberry back in the saddle, Delegate sets a decent standard and gets the nod.
Off the track since November, when unplaced behind the top-class Douvan at Gowran Park, 119-rated Space Ship might be capable of opening his hurdling account for Robbie Hennessy in the opening Support The Injured Jockeys Fund Maiden Hurdle.
His form includes a second to Florishwells D’ete and a fourth to Mckinley in a Grade Three novice event at Navan in November.
Likely to be suited by the drying ground, Space Ship sets the standard and, if the marker speaks in his favour, should take beating.
