Racecourse gallop option for L’Ami Serge
Trainer Nicky Henderson said the French import would not run again until the Festival in March after the five-year-old had taken his unbeaten record to three with a convincing success in the Grade One Tolworth Hurdle at Sandown on Saturday.
“(We were) very pleased with L’Ami Serge on Saturday. He won’t run again until the Festival and Nicky is a master at trying to do that,” bloodstock agent Anthony Bromley, who bought the horse for owners Simon Munir and Isaac Souede, said.
“He might take him for a racecourse gallop somewhere in February. It was a good performance. The races he’s run in seem to have fallen apart from two out and you just question the form, but he keeps doing it.”
Bromley revealed that the Munir and Souede-owned Peace And Co will try to book his place in the JCB Triumph Hurdle by running in the race formerly known as the Finesse Hurdle on Festival Trials Day on January 24.
Also trained by Henderson, Peace And Co landed the Grade Two Summit Hurdle at Doncaster in impressive fashion on his British debut last month, but Bromley feels the horse needs more experience.
“He’s by far from the finished article. He’s pulling a lot,” he said.
“He’s going to run in the Finesse Hurdle. A lot will depend on how good his performance is that day as to whether he goes for the Triumph Hurdle or not.”
