Bullet looks a banker
Michael O’Callaghan’s charge attracted support ahead of his recent debut over course and distance and shaped like a future winner when going down by a head to the experienced, 78-rated Daisy Bell.
The selection was collared close home on that occasion, having raced prominently, and, with plenty of improvement expected, the Clodovil gelding should make a bold bid from his favourable inside draw to gain compensation.
Knoxville Bullet which carried his trainer’s colours on his debut but, tonight, will sport the green and yellow colours of Mrs Geraldine Ryan, probably has most to fear from the consistent, 78-rated Sassy But Classy. Second to Split The Atom in a six-furlong nursery two weeks ago.
The tough Minot Street has triumphed four times, from six starts, for trainer John McConnell since mid-October and the in-form Van Nistelrooy gelding has prospects of further success in tonight’s finale, the Dundalk Stadium – Light Up Your Night Rated Race.
He’ll be ridden again by Tom ‘Socks’ Madden, who was on board last week when he beat the consistent Sharjah emphatically over course and distance.
Minot Street meets that rival on 7lb, worse terms tonight, but is expected to confirm that form. He might have most to fear from Gordon Elliott’s Moonmeister, which got a strong ride from Joseph O’Brien to win a handicap off 68 last week.
Raised 6lb. for that win, Moonmeister will have Luke Dempsey on board tonight, claiming a valuable 5lb., but might not cope with the progressive Minot Street.
